Default 2mm head gasket.

Im running a D16Z6 with T3 turbo, 450's, S-AFC, 2.5 inch system, 230lph in tank.

I have standard internals but am thinking about fitting a 2mm head gasket, what sort of boost would this allow me to run??

I presume to compenstae for the drop in compression ratio i will have to run higher boost than i am at present (7psi) to get the same power????

Would you lot recommend going for a thicker gasket??

Basically i need to know what boost i could run with the thicker gasket and in turn what kinda power this set up would produce.

thanks

paul

I usually don't advocate using thick head gaskets for the sake of lowering compression, but in this case, I would say that it works well. I too, went through this type of setup on my D16Z6. I used a GReddy 2mm with great results. But, I really didn't know what I was doing four years ago either, and could have remedied the situation and had better results probably with an oil cooler, and some tuning, and maybe a little less timing. Regardless, it will work, but it depends on which route you want to take.
