18g and boost creep bad
i put a 18g turbo onto my sohc 15g manifold and it's bolted up to my sohc vtec motor. stock z6 head with a filled/piston/rod y8 block. i've been runiing about 6-7 psi and it's been holding fine. took it to the dyno today to tune it and turn up the boost a bit. held the stock setting fine. i have no boost controller right now so i just wanted to turn it up to 10-12 psi witht he wastegate actuator arm like i did with my old 15g. well we turned it up to around 10 psi and it hold to around 6-6500 and then creeps pretty fast to 15psi. what can i do to stop this from happening? do i need a electronic boost controller or do i need to port the wastegate flapper hole?i see b16's on here running over 10 psi with no mention of creep like this, if anything they complain of it falling off up top. thanks for any help.

Re: 18g and boost creep bad (FMIDRC Racer)
try porting the wastegate it seems to make a difference in spiking issues with the 18G.
That or make sure the wastegate isnt shot. Make sure you dont have an exhaust leaks, re-tighten every bolt.
Good luck

Re: (AbitAvenger)
thanks for the advice guys.
from what i have read on here when i searched allot of people are having a problem with it spikeing right after a gear change and then the boost falls off. with mine to boost goes right to a certain level and holds great then towards rred line jumps pretty fast another 5 psi. porting the wastegate flapper hole i think would be what i probly need to do but i see all kinds of people running the same psi level as i am with no problem like this. plus they are doing it on a dual cam that flows better than my single cam does. i think i might try a EBC first and see how that turns out. BTW the turbo only has 2.000 miles on it so i'd hope that the actuator is still good.
if anyone else might know how to fix this please post it up. thanks again everyone.
