Default 14b oil/water cooled?

does the td05h-14b turbo need to be both oil and water cooled? Or is oil cooled enough? and can the water cooled part be ignored?

It is both oil and water cooler, but the water cooled section doesnt have to be hooked up...but ou will notice quicker spool up with the coolant...

On all of my setups using DSM turbos we have used the coolant passage. It is really easy to hook up, and increases the turbo life..

Do you have any instructions how to do the water lines...if it's that easy, then I might try it.

All you need is 10ft (2 5ft peices) of 5/16 coolant hose and 4 hose clamps. First remove the hose coming from the thermostat housing going to the IACV. Then run one hose from the thermo. housing to the turbo. The other turbo line goes back to the IACV. It's easy and takes about 10 minutes. Just be sure and not kink the lines because then your idle will act funny, and the line will be more easily broken.

Using a turbo's ability to be watercooled is nothing but good for spool and the turbo itself :D, I love my water cooled t3/t4e
