Default 1 shortblock question?

ok im going turbo and wanting to upgrade the rod bolts so it'll b safe for me to rev higher, now my question is, will it still be ok to use the same piston rings after i take the rods and pistons out to have the ARP rod bolts put on? the motor is a good running motor if u want to know, i just want to upgrade the rod bolts to the ARP ones.

I wouldnt..
plus you can do the rod bolts without removing the pistons and rods

but wouldn't the rings still seal the same?
are the ARP and stock LS rod bolts the same size?? meaning i could just knock the old LS rod bolts out and put the new APR ones in?

1) What motor is it?
2) Where is the current redline set at?
3) Why do you want to rev higher?

There may be no need to rev higher once you're turboed, it will all depend on where your power & torque is falling off at. I suggest you turbo the motor first, get it dyno tuned, then see what your powerband looks like with your current redline.

This

Also, there are other variables to consider with higher rpms such as upgrading your oil pump and valvetrain.

1) stock untouched ls block, b16 vtec head with supertech springs/retainers, old school skunk2 manifold, 70mmTB, custom Ramhorn manifold, 2.5" intercooler pipings, big front mount intercooler, 750cc RC injectors and a 2" inlet and 2.5" outlet turbo rated for 600HP
2) 8100 rpm
3) have a big turbo that might not hit full boost till 6000 rpm

wel if it wants to rev higher than 8000rpm once its on the dyno, it would be too late to upgrade the bolts imo.

if you try and use the original rings they wont seat correctly and you will have problems.
just pull them out, change them and have your local machine shop hook you up with a new cross hatch unless you have access to the tools.

If it's 2" inlet & 2.5" outlet, I'm assuming it's an SC-6152E? If it is, you'll hit maximum pressure before 6k rpm with a 3" exhaust, being you have an LS block (longer stroke).

Have you given pistons & rods some thought? I would consider it if it's in the budget. Your setup is nice, and has potential to make 450 to 500 whp with forged internals (pushing them RC 750's), go ahead & throw some Wiseco pistons & Eagle rods in there along with them rod bolts & do it all in one whop, homie.

im doing a simple set-up on a budget, if i have to get new rings and a hone then i might as well save up to get piston and rods.

can someone tell me how to do the arp rod bolts install on rods without taking out the rods/pistons from the block??
