Default $525 for a new garret turbo???too good to be true?

Hey guys, I need a little help here. I'm trying to get a new turbo with better ammunition. I called a diesel company in town (garret dealer)today and got a quote for a t3/to4e hybrid. That quote was $525 dollars only. Is that price too good to be true?

HERE'S THE SPECS:

t3/t04e oil cooled only, 360 thrust bearing is extra(will be a turbonetics product though)
exhaust:
4bolt discharge flange
stage 3 wheel
.63 a/r

compressor:
.60 trim

I was asking for a 60-1 but he said all that was in the book was a .57 trim and a .60 trim. You guys think that the .60 trim is garret's version of the 60-1?
all assembled and ready to bolt in.

You guys think that's a very good deal? or too good to be true? If you guys think it's good, then I'm gonna order it tommorow morning....Remember, this is all Garret. I called Majestic and got a quote for $680 for a similar turbo.

No the T04E 60 trim is different than the 60-1. The 60-1 is a T04b. Here are some exact specs:

T04b 60-1: Inducer Major
2.324" 3.0"
T04E 60:
2.290" 2.95"

The 60-1 will flow more.. but more lag..

well he may not be tacking on a 200% markup could be the reason, he may not be keen on the whole import scence. i once went to the junkyard to pick up an armrest for my civic and i walk in and see a pair of black GSR seats and i asked the guy how much? he says "$100" im like "$100!?" (gladly surprised) he then says "ok,ok $100 out the door" i snatched them up quick!

turns out he had a totaled GSR in the back that they had picked up and the insurance sold it to them, anyhow i called my friend that was looking for a swap and they sold him the entire front clip w/ dash and all for $2,000. i was happy for him. point of my ramble is,you just never know when youll come across good deals.

so is the .60 trim still better than the .57 trim? I'm kinda stupid and don't know how to read compressor maps...

as for the 4-bolt flange, all the guy said was that that was the only exhaust housing available that he had in his 2001 catalog. I asked him if there was also a 5 bolt, he told me that there is none to his knowledge

Well its not neccessarily better. It all depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for MONSTER hp and can tolerate LOTS of lag, then get the 60 trim. If you want to have nice hp and decent lag, then get the 57 trim. What is your goal?

about 450whp with 20 pounds of boost. I'm gonna get one, but should I get the thrust bearing included? I am trying to see high boost.

I'll get you guys the number later

If 450whp on 20psi is your goal, I suggest getting a 60-1. Here's someone that has one and dyno'd 461whp with the 60-1: http://www.asog.net/phantom/typer.htm

I'm surprised you aren't looking for water cooled instead of just oil cooled with that kind of horsepower goal.

I want the water cooled option, but everybody tells me that it's not required.

Here's the deal, he said that Garret does carry a 60-1 wheel and the thrust bearing. Total will be $575! NOW THAT'S A STEAL

here's the number:1-800-252-6625

I'm ordering mine on Monday
