$5000 Question
ok--- the time has come
i've decided to go turbo ( yea i know finally. its about time yeayeayea)
what i need is some opinions / pointers
i'm starting with a bone stock 95 gsr (83000 mi) and a $5000 budget
looking for ~300hp and daily driven reliability
Considering the following
Drag III
Hondata 2b (if $ allows)
Act XT/SS clutch kit
Toda flywheel (if $ allows)
RC 550 injectors (if $ allows)
Eagle rods
JE 9.0 or 9.5 pistons
Cometic headgasket
Race engineering blockguard
honda engine bearings
new rings
any suggestions?
how would you spend the $ to do this?

Re: $5000 Question (dante_420)
dump the block guard
dump the flywheel if moeny does not permit
priority :
1. turbo kit
2. hondata & injectors (they go hand in hand)
3. clutch
4. pistons/ rods / bearings / gasket

Re: $5000 Question (immortal)
I hate to say it but I dont think $5k will do it. Not for built block, hondata and your turbo. **** gets expensive FAST!

Re: $5000 Question (dante_420)
To complete your 300hp turbo project, even though $500 is a lot of money, it is still short a feew hundred $ to get the other parts that you need.
Here’s an example of a price breakdown:
GSR built blocks, pistons, rods, new bearings, etc $2100.00
DRAG 3 turbo kit $2795
Stage 3-4 clutch kit $300.00
This is a good start up.
With this setup you can probably boost 10lbs safely
And look into upgrading the injectors as the next step to your boost goals.
Overall this is a dope startup on a project. You can just get the hondata, electronics after you get this all setup.
Good luck

Re: $5000 Question (b16_ef)
I'd go with Immortal's priority list.
But go with the max rev kit. Drag includes stuff you don't need if you get Hondata, and Hondata is the only way to go...
MaxRev kit 2700
Hondata 550
Injectors 270
Thermal Exhaust (good for 20hp I recall) 550
Clutch 400.
With leftover 500, you can do use it for the DIY Wideband or Electronic Boost controller (quicker spoolup) or tuning.
That's about 5k and should get you about 300whp depending on how much boost you run.
