Default "Pusher" type radiator fan

I wanted more room for my filter and inlet pipe and so added room to work w/...so I decided to change from my stock "pull" type radiator fan to a thinner, "push" style fan.

I bought the fan from Jegs.com part number 778-67012.....12" proform universal fan. $71.99.

First, simply unclip and unbolt the stock fan.

here is a look at new vs old

Now, since the proform fan comes out of the box intended for "pull" type function....you have to "flip" the fan blades. Simply unbolt the 8 mm nut and flip the blades over.

Now mount the new fan using the 4 mounts provided. Then slide the zip tie threw the mount, then threw the radiator core and attach the locking tab provided. (All this stuff comes w/ the fan).

Once mounted, simply cut the clip of the old fan...and splice in the new fan wires. For some odd reason black is power(12v) and blue is the Ground. make sure you cover all connections w/ eletrical tape.

Then your done...here is a pic of the finished product .

Nice setup.

Question: If you were to retain your factor A/C system and PS, is there room to mount the pusher fan? Or do you have to move the pipes to accomodate?

Well, I ripped out my A/C ...but yea...you would still have plenty of room to mount the "pusher" style fan just like this only on your A/C condensor...you might have to slighty bend one small A/C line that runs from the relay box..but it should be no problem.

wow, thats funny, i just bought the same radiator this afternoon and installed it right after, i saved MAD room, i was pretty happy, im anxious to see how the cooling issues holds up.... One thing i wasnt sure of was u said u had to "flip the blades"... i did not do this, on the fan shroud, it said the airflow was pointing inward, so i simply mounted it the way the air should flow.. ill take soem pics tomorrow, any more input welcome, thanks...RON

Different brand. Fans can range in price from $50 to over $200. The quality of the motors and design of the blades makes a big difference in cooling effectivness.

I realize they are different brands by looking at the design, so are you saying the one from autozone is weaker than this one? It flows 850 cfms.

I don't know which one is better, you would have to compare the flow rates. The more cfm the better the cooling, but that still doesn't tell you the quality of the motor. You can pretty much go by the rule of life, you get what you pay for...
