SMOG HELP WITH CAMS
i have an itr...i got skunk2 stage 2 cams, tuned on hondata s200 (p28). if everything else is stock on the car, and i slap in the original ecu in, can i pass smog? it does not like the stock ecu btw. wont hold idle if its life depended on it. but, can it pass smog like that? or if i put the cams back at 0 instead of advanced or retarded? what you guys think?

Re: (emaka9)
assuming that your P73 ecu is a USDM P73 then here is what you need to do.
1. Install any stock Vtec cams in the car. it doesn't matter as long as they are stock Honda cams. B16, GSR, ITR, CTR whatever.
2. Install the USDM OBD2B P73 ecu in the car.
3. adjust the idle using the idle speed screw on the throttle body if necessary
4. drive the car for one week to give the OBD2 readiness monitors a chance to run (let the computer reset)
5. as long as you have no check engine lights and the OBD2 monitors run you should pass the smog test with no problems. if you do get a check engine light you will have to fix whatever the code is set for then clear the code and start your one week driving cycle all over again.
And for the record. with those cams you will probably never get the car to pass smog in an OBD2 car.
