i have an itr...i got skunk2 stage 2 cams, tuned on hondata s200 (p28). if everything else is stock on the car, and i slap in the original ecu in, can i pass smog? it does not like the stock ecu btw. wont hold idle if its life depended on it. but, can it pass smog like that? or if i put the cams back at 0 instead of advanced or retarded? what you guys think?

Your ECU shouldn't determine how well your engine idles. You mean to tell me your car idles perfect with the hondata setup and doesn't with the stock iTR ecu? I would check to see if that ITR ecu has ever been touched.
S2S2's i thought had near stock idle characteristics.

You will not likely pass smog with those cams, even with the gears set at 0.

I never said the cams would be near stock cam specs. I should've been more clear. What I thought was with those cams, you should be able to tune the car to idle similar to stock.
Best bet: throw in OEM cams just to get you passed smog.

OBDII Smog test.
How long can you drive it with the stock ECU and cams zeroed out before it starts flashing codes? If you can go like 40 miles or so without flashing codes, it should be able to pass OBDII smog regardless of how crappy it runs.
It won't pass at all with the P28 because the SMOG machine cannot read an OBDI ECU with a jumper.

Right....but the OP did not say he was going to use a P28 ecu....

Get it to idle, drive it around for about 30 miles to set the OBDII readiness monitors, if there's no CEL, you're good to go.

Are your cam gears exposed? A ref will fail you if you have cam gears. You should just go back to stock cams and gears, and ecu for your smog, what's a couple of hours of work to get your car smogged and legal. You don't want to go to a carb ref with all those parts in your car. He'll laugh right at you.

According to his other thread in the all motor forum it is a ref. inspection.
