Default SLC DIY

Well, I decided to tune my e-85 fueled 95 Prelude and needed a wideband controller. After doing a bunch of research, I decided to go with the SLC DIY kit from 14point7.com. I’m a big “I like to do all my work myself” kinda guy, so this kit was cool as far as I was concerned. WARNING: if you aren’t comfortable with a large amount of soldering, this is not the product for you. Anyway, got the kit and printed out the instructions, which I found to be very detailed with big full-color pictures and a nice component layout. I ran a new cable up from the WB sensor and pulled it through the firewall. Then I ran the power wiring from the cigarette lighter to the unit and ran a separate ground for the sensor. Lastly I ran a wire over to my ECU to the EGR lift input for the 0-5V signal. I used Molex connectors throughout to be able to disconnect it and go back to stock. After wiring it up, I was having some issues that I posted on the site forum. They were answered later that day, which I thought was a pretty good response time. Overall the hardware/software combo is good and I like the dashboard that comes with it, very nice looking! The only problem I had was that one of the surface mount pins for the micro controller was loose and not driving the 7 segment display properly. I was able to track down the pin on the micro and solder it back to the board. Now it works perfectly and I use the linear output to pull back to my demon-chipped P06 ecu running Neptune RTP. BTW if you are using Neptune, the B6 input is not a good choice for logging AFR's (found that out the hard way!) and should be used as a last resort in my opinion. I haven’t had to offset the WB value at all when it comes into the ecu, so I guess I did the install well, probably has to do with that extra ground wire. Soon I am going to hook an egt to the unit to log that as well, since it has that capability. It also has the ability to control boost so a very thorough feature set. If you are looking for a WB with lots of features and a fun challenge to put it together, this is the unit for you!

hi sorry im late.
what ECU were you running? I was considering the B6 input for wideband on my P28 but can't find a lot of info on it. i will be using neptune too and was wondering why the B6 input wasn't good for logging afrs? thanks.

The b6 input caused my ecu (p06) to intermittantly (every three seconds or so) lose connection with my demon board. This makes the car go in and out of "limp" mode (not good). Just use one of the other listed inputs (stock O2, EGR lift, or ELD) and you shouldn't have any problems. It isn't well documented, but quite a few people have had problems with it if you search about it.

yeah, sure enough i found some more posts about b6 oddities. egr lift (d12) doesn't require any hardware mods correct? thanks for fast reply!

Nope, you should be able to hook right up to the d12 pin. Hope this helps and GL!

You should have a 0.1uF cap installed at C42 to use the D12 analog input.
