Default placement of the IAT sensor

Just wondered if anyone had experience with moving the IAT sensor to the boost pipe rather than the intake manifold.

Im mapping a turbo b18c just now and after a hard run and coming to a stop the heat soak is effecting it , i have adjusted the IAT correction tables so it doesnt cause it to run lean.

But how much difference does it make moving the sensor?

Quite a bit really, moving it about 6" in front of the TB would be the best.

Part of the problem though is that the Honda IAT is quite slow in response since it is a closed element

What exactly do you mean the heat soak is effecting it ?

Are you doing WOT runs and shutting the car off to check plugs or something ?

no no , just if you have been on boost for a bit or racing and come to a stand still you done have the same air flowing into the engine bay, the intake manifold gets really hot, i mean with the manifold holding heat. but you can touch the boost pipes fine.

Not a problem as every car is like this , i just mean from a tuning point of view what would be the best practice.

More accurate sensor in the boost pipe..

What engine management are you using?

Do you know if there are ignition trims based off of the IAT sensor? Its been years since I messed around with the S300/Neptune software, but I remember there being a scaling/table for IAT/fuel in there.
