Correct. See my last post above yours.

A similar issue, I suspect, is why I actually picked up a couple mpg when I went back to a stock IM gasket from the Hondata one. It dawned on me that the injectors were no longer pointed at the back of the valve but were aimed at he port floor. I'm debating if I'll go back to one of those gaskets or not, but if I do I intend to line things up on a spare head and see what angle I need to be shooting for (no pun intended).

Found the data sheet for the Bosch EV14 injector family. I'll post some conversational nuggets after work tonight.

So there are lots of options on the Bosch datasheet if one wanted to really dial in their spray pattern:

I wonder how effective it would be to to try and nail down some of these angles and get that spray right down the middle of the port. Say, opting for the 'E' type twin spray with alpha set to aim down the individual runners & gamma chosen to compensate for my issue above with the thermal gasket... oh the possibilities!

correct, you were getting a little bit of pooling at the floor of the port that caused the MPG drop. I always thought the HP increase would be negligible at best using the Hondata spacer because of the loss in fuel atomization with the stock injectors.

injector choices are a little bit trickier with the honda design since its on the manifold vs. say a toyota design thats bolted the the head.

Great thread btw this stuff is informative.

I bit the bullet and went with a custom set of EV14's from Injector Nation/HiProfile. Vectored twin spray, 22* separation angle, 370cc @3bar.

The mounting angle is due to the fact that the vector nozzles on these are rotated 45* from the orientation of the connector.

Rescaled my maps and set the offsets per the new data. Instantly noticed a crisper tip-in and better idle. They've actually needed a bit of remapping, I'm still grabbing logs around town and getting the last little bits dialed in, and then I'll still have to give the ECT/IAT offsets some love.

It's readily noticeable that my map lines have smoothed out majorly with these, and are getting smoother with every iteration. It's possible that my old injectors were suspect though too. Mileage is slightly improved over the course of my first tank, I'm pretty sure that once I get them dialed in that the difference will be significant.
