Default Innovative LC-1 install problem

I have a brand new LC-1 I was trying to install but ran into problems with the 12v power. My friend who is an electrical engineer and has installed an LC-1 before on his car tried to do this for me. This is how I know all solder's were done well.
The problem is I can't get the power to turn on properly. I'm basing this on the LED it comes with. When I used the ECU as the 12v supply it blinked code 9 - meaning insufficient power supply.
This was the only time I could get the LED to turn on at all. I tried using 12v from my radio, cigarette lighter, straight from a fuse... Every time the voltage meter read we were getting 12v to the LED but, it would not light up.
The LED is supposed to light up to show everything is operating properly, so I'm left to assume it doesn't work, any ideas? Thanks.

If you think it is a problem with the LC-1, hook it directly to the battery to see if you can get it to turn on.

I was trying to do it by-the-book, so without the led I didn't want to try and connect to my laptop.
I was afraid if the first calibration didn't go properly then I shouldn't connect to my laptop.

Have you figured out the problem. I have a brand new LC-1 unit myself that I've had for a while now but have yet to install. I hope you fix your problem such that when it comes time for me to install my wideband (which is the same time I can save up enough money to buy a laptop) I can figure out the problem, if I had it.

Working on my car is a weekend thing so I'm going at it again tomorrow. I'm sure I'll have it figured out by the end of the day. I'll post back here with what I find.
