I'm currently an industrial graphic designer and I used to do web design and iPhone app interface design.

It looks like it's been a while since you've posted here. Any new updates?
Feel free to contribute.
Now I'am working in an analog gauge and fixing some bugs.

Got bored today and started working on some dash interface ideas. I'm really hoping to find the time this winter to build myself one of these and work on making some different skins.

I've been looking for a cheap OLED monitor to use for this project. I think gauges would look great on OLED since the black pixels are unlit and only the pixels displaying color light up, unlike an LCD display where the entire screen is always lit up when it's on. OLED combined with some custom moulding and a gauge skin to match the moulding could make for a really clean and high tech looking setup.

you are right, an OLED would work perfect for this, I'm using and IPS lcd which is also good for black.
concretely I'm using this one: 7" inch HSD070PWW1 B01 1280 800 LCD Panel LCD Controller Board Touch Screen | eBay

Man, that graphics look awesome, I prefer a classic style but this is also cool. If you want I can give you some inspiration and see if we can make a new design we like both.

Wow! A really cool tech thread with a lot of actual tech and collaboration.

Am I still in HT?

That's a nice looking, fairly priced display. I've found a few 7 or 8 inch portable OLED monitors used by professional photographers, but they're crazy expensive, anywhere from $1800 - $5000 so not really an option. I did find this Dell Android tablet with an 8.4 inch 2560x1600 OLED Display. It's pretty cheap at $350 so I was thinking of buying a used one and seeing if the display could be easily hacked out of it and used with the Raspberry Pi. This could be more trouble than its worth though. Another option would be to use a VNC app on the tablet to mirror the Raspberry Pi output, but that solution is a bit too janky for me.

Yeah man, I'd love to help you design an interface for your liking. If you want to just do a rough sketch up of the layout you'd like I can just pretty it up for you and create all the graphic files. Or if you just want to give me a list of the info you want displayed with a description of the style you're looking for that could work too. Maybe even link some images of dashes you like from other cars and I could try and replicate their style.

Haha yeah I'm pretty new to Honda-Tech, but to be honest I've been a bit bummed out by the lack of sharing and collaboration on really techy, and cutting edge projects. It seems like all the people working on really cool stuff keep it hush hush so they can stay unique, or they developed it and sell it. I really can't blame anyone for doing either of those things because obviously everyone likes getting paid and a huge part of being in the modified car community is trying to make your car unique. So you know, I get it, but I also love the open source community and I think it would be cool to see more collaboration on stuff like this on HT. Disclaimer has been super cool about sharing his projects and knowledge on HT. His EG6 build thread really helped me in building an arduino vss converter for my S2000 cluster swap.

Any luck communicating to the s300 via the Hondata Binary Protocol over bluetooth? Seems like there is meat on that bone.

Yeah, I hope that he can get the s300 going because I do not want to use hondata's app. It is butt-******* ugly and I would like to help in any way possible. What are the differences between the kpro and the s300 programing wise?

You could use the Aim dash output if you want and get some of the channels, but if you want all then yes, that’s the problem.

It’s published in the S300 help file, along with the protocol to access it.

Currently it is only for Hondata KPro and S300, as it pulls data directly from the USB port on the ecu.

I've gotten it working and have spent quite a bit of time working on the backend to get it fully compatible with S300 - at one time I had every single parameter available, I just got stuck at developing the front end and creating layouts that are more attractive/more functional for my needs.. It's a great setup with a really robust connection to the ecu since it uses usb and not bluetooth.. You're also not limited by the short list of channels that the Hondata devices broadcast over CAN or serial.

If you want to work on the layouts/add pages/etc, you will need to be quite comfortable with javascript and html.

I've kind of moved on from this project as I've moved away from Hondata as a platform, but if you're willing to put in some work it's got a lot of potential.

What's your question though?
