DIFFERNT ECU MAKE UPGRADE TO PERFORMANCE??
Hi okay i got a question, I know this one guy who drives a SOHC DX Hatchback. He is running the manufactured ecu for his motor. But for some reason he couldnt bring up to redline. So he put a p28 ecu in there for vtec on his non vtec car and he runs so much better now. His car is alot faster too now, took it drag racing and he can run with the SOHC VTECS? So is it possible to run a vtec ecu on a non vtec motor and perform better?
I know a guy who has a h23 prelude and wants to know if he can use a p28 ecu on his prelude. would that work? and would he be faster?

When the P28 is running the DX, it's on the low cam setting, since there's no VTEC. It's pretty close to what a DX ECU would run from the factory.
If the P06 stock DX ECU is not running the vehicle correctly, either the setup or the ECU has a problem.
The Prelude would need to have the P28 tuned for it. Running stock ECUs on engines they weren't intended for is not a good idea.

yeah i figured something out like that, but wasnt too sure, gotta question, i know it might not belong in this thread and post, but do you think getting a larger fuel supply like injectors and pump would work well in the h23 with basic bolt ons, camgears and a chipped ecu. My guy's gonna go tune it, but its pretty much stock, so wondering if the fuel supply would help out performance or not needed for pretty much stock motor with bolt-ons and camgear.
is funny that back in the old days, that wasn't a thing call ecu tuning, vafc was the shxt, and so we use a ecu a set higher. it ran the motor just fine for a very long time, but of cuz now tuning is available then everyone said lets not use other ecu, but no being rude to anyone.
well, just like he stated that if your p06 not running right then mean something wrong. the p28 map it have better ign and fuel map on both high and low map, and the low map is better then on p06 anyway. but not by much.
your stock injector and pump will do plenty for stock bolt on. 100percent duty cycle on wot on honda sound risky, but how many those motor seen 100k miles. before we have anything to tune with, we did voltech supercharger setup on a 2000 honda civic si. 10lbs boost stock injector with fmu, 255walbro fuel pump and it saw 60k hard miles until we sold the car, then it saw another 3 to 4yrs more miles, until the person who own the car then sold it to someone else. NOT saying tuning is not important, every vehicle that i have was tune, and never any problem. but anyway.
with your stock ecu, u can tune your ecu to produce more fuel for u, you pump is good for 75psi, can't remeber the value. but if u only have bolt on u are fine. use hondata or crome and get u p28 ecu and chip it out and have it tune will get you more effective power.
