Default Code 20 (ELD) 89 crx OBD 1 conversion

Ok, I just installed my OBD 1 LS motor in my crx. It has Hondata S300 installed in the ECU. I am getting two codes. One is a water temp sensor which i will replace. My concern is the ELD (code 20). Can I disable this with hondata or do I need this b/c im obd 1? If I need to use it where should I start. I have seen people replacing the underhood fuse box and others replace the alternator. Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Ryan

Just disable this code in Smanager. You won't have any issues running the car without it.

Thats what I did but I just wanted to make sure that I didn't need that enabled for my car. I know the JDM cars do not use it. What happens when you shut it off? Why do they have it if I don't use it? I'm just curious about why US cars got equipped with this function.

Basically the ELD (electrical load detector) just senses when there is more draw on the system... say when you turn the defrost on or headlights. It has an additional fuel correction table that it adds/subtracts a small amount of fuel, also ignition/idle, etc.

There are 0 draw backs of disabling this sensor in most cars. It really isn't that big of a deal. Most softwares use the ELD input as the wideband logging input since it is a factory 0-5v input, which is exactly what most wideband output wires are.

Nice, I was going to use that wire with the PLX M300. Thanks a lot man. I appreciate it.

That should work great then. When logging through the ELD input on the ecu it is also recommended that you remove two resistors in the ecu.

They are located at R136 and R138.

Can I just clip them out on the ends? Or do I need to desolder them?

You can just clip one end of them and pull it up. You don't have to desolder them unless you want to.

Is there any reason why this should be removed if your datalogging over ELD with a w/b O2? I am just curious as I will be datalogging soon (I am playing with it now but my wideband needs to be hooked up and my sensor replaced). I didn't see this in the s300 docs, or is this for other tuning systems primarily?

This is for pretty much any software that you use that logs through the ELD input.

The resistors skew the voltage coming in from the ELD pin. So when you remove these it will be pretty much spot on when logging in the software. This is so you don't have to use the wideband offset parameter in logging.
