Cannot rotate dizzy far enough to time car
I searched and couldn't find anything to answer my problem. The dizzy is cranked all the way and the mark on the pulley is close to the indicator but not quite there. My cam gears do line up when TDC. What am I missing here? I have hondata and I go to online>set timing>16*BTDC. Do I still need to jump the service connector? Will an exhaust leak also have an affect?

put hondata back to original configuration and jump the connector.
see if that works.
at idle yourecu constantly adjusts timing to get the engine idle smooth.
test connector sets timing constant to default pposition so you can check it and adjust the initial position.

Re: Cannot rotate dizzy far enough to time car
The cam gears line up guys. Im not dremeling the holes. They're slotted that big for a reason. I cant put hondata back to original, how would my LS/VTEC TURBO start. I'll tell ya- Really ****ing bad or not at all. Mark on the crank pulley-red.
On top Dead center MY cam gears line "up" up and line the 2 notches together in the center.

Re: Cannot rotate dizzy far enough to time car
I know that. When the car is running, I'm trying to get the indicator to point to the red mark. When the car is off, I can get the engine to TDC, and the cam gears line up

if your head and/or block were decked you need to degree the motor and set aftermarket cam gears to stock degree.

Re: Cannot rotate dizzy far enough to time car
I am running stock Pr3 camgears. The tune is for this setup. The only thing i changed to have the timing out of sync was the distributor. Before the timing was fine

Re: Cannot rotate dizzy far enough to time car
are you using the correct distributor by chance? if you say eveything in the engine lines up then it could be the wrong distro.
It won't be the software that is causing the prob. what kind of timing light are you using?
if it's a dial back timing light then check what timing your getting when distro is set in the middle. If everything in the engine is lined up, including distro, then it should be in the middle.

Re: Cannot rotate dizzy far enough to time car
My timing light does not have individual settings. Also, I just diagnosed another car problem by guessing, and checking. I'd rather not do it here if i can avoid it, seeing as how that costs so much money.

Re: Cannot rotate dizzy far enough to time car
If you had your block decked and head decked or both, you'll need adustable cam gears and degree your motor properly using a cam degree wheel and dial indicators to get it bang on. You can do this with the motor still in the car, but you'll need someone to do it for you that knows how to do it.
