b16a2 idle help
ok so ive got a 93 eg hatch with a swapped b16a2,ive had the car for about 2 months or so now and i mainly did all the body work it need cause my license were suspended at the time im now driving and have been for a couple weeks now, anyway the idle has always been high,i had to change the TPS when i first got the car cause the engine seemed to bog off at random times,so new one that problem solved,my idle stayed at a stedy 2k,all the time, readjusted the timing and no change, advance and retard dizzy, nothing changed it,i searched some stuff on here and learned about the IACV took it off cleaned it good with carb cleaner put it back on idle start bouncing between 1k and 2k soon as i start the car and so on warm or cold it continues.throttle screw doesnt change anything, covered the throttle body with my hand and it did shut down, unplugged IACV nothing happens, map sensor seems good, got a reading of .45 on the TPS,there are some lines with screws stuck in the end?vacuum lines but i dont know where they go,ive checked all lines tho and cant find a vacuum leak.CEL codes throw 23-knock sensor and 41-o2 sensor heater..would either of those have anything to do with this crazy idle?? any help would be appreciated.thanks.
i just road out to see how my car was acting after messing with it today and its worse then it was b4,now the idle still surges up and down and seems like the idle holds around 2.5-2.8k and now its kinda pulling itself, also displaying action of a bad TPS,(push gas car builds start to let off gas throttle pulls close and car jerks like loss of power)TPS was checked and set earlier today tho and had the right amount of voltage, this issue really sucks and is driving me crazy, theres no shops around here that worth really taking it to so can someone please shed a little light on this?
idle issue solved, went to a local junk yard and grabbed the IACV and map sensor came home and threw those on after cleaning them now my idle is at 1100,still a little high but it works for me considering what was going on,new sensors came off a d15 is that an issue for my b16?
You have a vacuum leak, you probably created it when you removed the throttle to replace the TPS, or the TPS was not installed correctly or calibrated to the correct voltage.
Make sure the TPS tongue is sprung between the grooves in the TPS barrel and check the closed position voltage as shown in your repair manual. Go through typical troubleshooting for a vacuum leak and fix it, or your mileage and spark plugs will suffer for it.
