Default b16 issue

hello yall, im new to the site but have read a lot of tech posts.now I need serious help. I have a 95 ex coupe that I swapped a b16 into,it had an ls when I bought it. anyhow the ecu is a chipped p28 with a modified p30 basemap, now my issue that I cannot figure out for the life of me is my engine will not rev past 7200. I have double checked the tune and even raised the rev limit to 9500 to eliminate a faulty tach, and no luck.it just hits a rev limit it croses vtec and all it pulls normal but wont rev out...I pulled codes and got 10(intake air temp) and 14(idle air control) and an o2 code I cant figure this out and could use some expert advice. thank you

How exactly did you raise the rev limit?

My ect on the side of the block had tobe sliced into the harness and i dont know which wire go where i swapped the wires around and it never thru a code could the ect be bad and keeping the ecu in cold start mode even after its warm

Again...fix the codes and report back. The CEL comes on for a reason, and it stops revving...for a reason.

Just search this site for how to fix the codes, it is pretty easy. Also get a FSM(factory service manual), downloaded off the web.

Then you didn't correctly raise your rev limiter (there is more than one limiter), or Chrome is stopping you from doing something stupid.

Yes, you probably are hitting a rev limit. And with good reason. So you don't blow up your engine. The rev limit on most of the b-series engines is set around 8200 RPM, correct? What is the reason you want to go past 7200 in the first place?

As far as something in your dizzy causing an issue? Highly doubtful. It's pretty apparent what your issue is and it has nothing to do with anything mechanical at all.

Sorry a little off topic, but! you mentioned it doesn't bounce at 1500?

do you mean, a hesitation in revs and jerk around this rev range?

reason i ask is because, i have this problem and have tried so many different things to fix my problem but cant seem to find a solution.

Seriously??? isnt that why they made these motors? they didn't put a b16. into an EM1 and slap an 8k tach on it so you could short shift it at 7200. ****** stupid question.

OP, I'm not sure if you said the vtec was engaging at 5800 like normal? but I was thinking the tach could be off, I've seen that happen. grab a friend's tach and try it. otherwise it's definitely something electrical. I'd try a virgin stock ecu.

OP...try swapping in a OBD1 P30 or OBD1 P72 (stock) ECU. Maybe there's something wrong with your chip or programming.

My rev limit on my tune is set at 8500 its still in the same range as stock also the only reason i would like to rev like the b16 should is everyone knows b16 dont really build power untill vtec well qhen i try to run people and i have to shift at 7 it puts me out of vtec and then ifa like driving a b7 motor....and for the bounce issue it was just at 1500 rpm buddy it was a side affect of my iacv not being hooked up
