it's not the ecu itself, it's the code base we're talking about that's used on the ecu. it's what's used as a starting point when you're tuning a car and need to edit maps, add features, or whatever. P30 is from a B16 ecu and P72 is from an integra. Each of them is just a little bit different and runs each car a bit differently. The P72 base seems to get along a bit better with my P75/car(No surprise, they're both from Integras.) When I used P30 base I had all sorts of problems.. TCU codes, trouble starting, car wouldn't stay running, spitting/sputtering, early rev limit, intermittent total loss of power. Switched to a different chip with P72 base with the same maps, etc and all these problems went away. Though it's debatable that it could have just been a bad chip - I never tested it, and since he is having some problems with P30 base...leads me to think it wasn't. I'm not a tuner though, and this isn't exactly something that's done a lot. But I've done an oil change already and it's still running great, no problems. There's 172k on my transmission too. My advice to anyone who tries this, if you're running anything over 4-5 psi, keep the full throttle shifts to a minimum. I did this mainly for proof of concept because everyone said it couldn't be done, and as a temporary solution before my 5 speed swap. There is some power loss, more noticeably torque seems to fall off but it's still quick for what it is. On 6psi I was pulling on manual h22's with bolt ons. Just be careful and don't do anything stupid like neutral drop it, or beat on it excessively and the tranny will probably last a good while. Make sure you check/change your fluid more often too.

@Aradin: Thanks for the reply! They day before you replied I changed to P72 base. I noticed that the D4 light went away. Been in school so couldn't reply. Thanks again.

Glad it helped. Any further questions for me on this will probably go unanswered though. Car was totaled last night.

I was the only one in the car and yeah I'm fine minus a few bruises. I was on my way home from a friend's house and a deer ran out in front of me. Hit it doing about 50-55. The whole front end of the car is damaged pretty badly. But the good news is that I'm okay, and aside from a few bent intercooler pipes, all of my turbo stuff + motor survived. It's all going to find it's way into another car.

Yeah I was pretty shaken up, it all happened in an instant. One second I was just cruising, listening to music, trying to get home and eat then bam. I've dodged so many deer prior to this but never at such a high speed with so little reaction time. There's a very good possibility it's all going to find it's way into a 5 speed 4th gen prelude.

Exactly how I felt. It was over before I realized what was even happening and then I was jacked up on adrenaline for hours after. I like the 5th gen the best but the 4th gen is sexy too.
