Timing belt issues with the rear cam
Ran into a problem I'm not to sure about the rear cam jumped way ou of time during the timing/ water pump swap, does it matter if I take the cam clock wise all the way back around or do I need to go counter clockwise for the correction?

I went ahead and just went clockwise with it I didn't hear anything unusual but it did a good lunge at one point and then I had to back up slowly to get it on the timming mark , put the belt on and turned the crank twice but the crank shaft pulleys are not falling in time with the crank shaft , am I missing something here
I'm assuming you are turning the cam with no timing belts/chains attached to set mechanical timing. If so, you can turn the cam any direction you want IF you put the crank a quarter turn from TDC. This will lower and raise the pistons to half way and you will not be able to create a valve to piston contact. After adjusting the cams to TDC, then you move the crank back to TDC the quarter turn and install belts/chains to set mechanical timing.
However, its always a little nicer on the motor and cams to turn them in the direction they usually rotate so all pads/rollers rub the usual spots on the lobes of the cam etc.
