piston ring gap question

Default piston ring gap question

i have 81.5 piston rings and the top ones for every cylinder are .010 or .011 and i am wondering if there is anyway i can tell if i have them square in the cylinder and there small or if there not seated correctly i used the top of a piston to slide them down a bit.in the cylinder.

If you read gapping procedures in the FSM you will know you gap them at the bottom of the cylinder.
