Not at all if you consider the benefits. You never do until its too late usually. As long as you have good precision tools for measurements and components fall within spec you should be good. Now if you want to make your motor last even longer a good damper is just as critical which most people overlook. Here is an article i wrote on dampers if you are interested

I read that. Very informative! I was previously a fan of the underdrive/lightweight pulleys until it was brought to my attention that those weren't harmonic dampening. I then switched back to a stock damper. I'll look into a better option a bit later down the road, for sure!

It is well worth the price tag for your motor. No reputable engine builder who builds motor will run any lightweight pulley. They will either run fluidampr or ati and I gave the reasons why I put fluidampr on my cars.
