Default Is this ok ?

So while I was tearing apart my d16a6 head that I am rebuilding i noticed something sketchy about this journal ,makes me curious because it spins freely and doesnt scratch up the camshaft can I still use the head ?

Heavens no... If you hunt around you might find a machine shop that can machine the head to accept cam bearings.

See this thread for someone who saved their Honda head that way with pics at the end:

this head didnt have cam bearings

damn im broke well better start hunting for a new head thanks for the info installing journal bearings will cost more than what i payed for the car

Neither did the head in that thread, that was machined in. It's not common by any means.

If the engine is being treated in a manner to cause that kind of damage, it's likely to be causing damage to other parts of the engine, i.e. burnt valves, ring land issues etc etc.

Really, without seeing all the other parts... It's impossible to say without being able to visually identify the extent of the damage(s).

It's not impossible, but it's also not guaranteed either.

yeah makes sense, popped it open pistons were CAKED with carbon so were the combustion chamber and valves
