This isn’t normal right? My car never overheats. I just removed my head. Any chance I might of spilled oil n coolant when removing head or is something wrong with my block.

Did you drain the oil and coolant before removing the head?

No. After I did. The drain bolt on the block right. Should I shoc vac the two pistons that have coolant?or what should I do???

You can, or even shop towels will soak up the fluid out of the cylinders.

Are you storing the block or going to put it back into service?

This will depict just how "thorough" you have to be with the coolant in the cylinders.

I’m gettin head work on my head. It’s gonna be stored for 2 weeks.

2 weeks isn't that long but for added peace of mind....

Shop towel out the majority of fluid. Use compressed air and shop towel to get as much residue as you can from around the rings/piston to wall clearance.

Then dribble a little bit of oil around the rings and turn the crank to move the pistons through a cycle.

The first time I took a head off, I made the same mistake. I was also getting head work done. Never drained the coolant. Pulled head off, cylinders were soaked in coolant. Long story short, I used a brake bleed kit to suck the coolant out of the cylinders and wiped them clean with shop towels. Fill the cylinders with shop towels while you wait for the head. Some one had mentioned I should spray the cylinder walls with wd40 to prevent rust while I waited for my head. I never did that. Eventually got the head back, installed, and shes been running like a champ since.

use shop rags, or a vacuume brake bleeder to suck off the top layer of oil. If it was a problem, the oil would be floating in the top of your radiator tank, and coolant res.
