Yello. I'm attempting to rebuild my mo-mo-mommas d16y7. Got the shop service book, been going off that. Did a hot compression test all 115psi (min 134) so it seems a lil tired. thinking bout honing n re ring. Anything that I can do to get more oimph out the engine while I'm there? Would it be wiser just to see if getting the compression where it should be wakes it up?
That block needs to come out and go to the machine shop. Those cylinders are roached. I bet they are barrel shaped at this milage. A quick hone job and new rings are not going to bring back the compression.
While the head is off have a vlave job done and probably replace the valve guides. They are very likely worn right out.
Well bout on and off for bout a year. I mangled this beast together. Went through and replaced valve guides. Seals. #4 rod bearings. Everything else measured great. according to feelers and plastigage. bout an hour runtime so far so good 👍. Besides the situation towards driver side I'll have to keep an eye on. Puked that little bit out the bottom of the timing cover on first start. Hasn't leaked second time starting and running 30-40 min.
Well, got the clutch line installed. Put enough juice to charge in the 6yr ole never start. Manage to be my lil Sunday cruiser. Got about 30 miles on it with some codes( dizzy and iac).but I believe I got it well broken in. Was able to finally get a good cleaning in the shop too (woot). Still got a list for the car but at least it's mobile. Check out why the shifter is super sloppy.
