Default Is it worth buying a VAFC?

Im thinking about getting a VAFC -1 for a reasonable price.

right now I have a sohc vtec making 120 whp losing fuel pressure in the upper RPM.

one guy told me that i can gain about 2 horsepower....

plus theres the cool factor of having that Apex-i in there.

But could I add more fuel at the upper RPM and make up that 2-7 hp i might be losing?

there is also a possibillity that I may go boosted in the future.

what are yalls opinions

Complete ricer waste of time . Get real tuning hardware if you want your car to run well, and until then, leave it the **** alone .

I would say go for it. It helped me out a lot and now I know what's going on in my engine and I can control it. Go for it, you'll see a difference. And yes, they accentuate the car a bit more.

For my car, it was well worth it. I got it at cost, when it first came out, and after @ries dyno tuned my car, he picked up an additional 9whp peak, and smoothed out the entire graph. An Uberdate or Hondata type of set up offers more adjustability, and I've decided to move on to Hondata, but don't take that claim of "only gives you 2 horsepower" as anything, because every motor is different, and results will vary from motor to motor, and tuner to tuner.

its good for the independant tuner that wants to mess around alittle bit on a tight budget. dont get me wrong you can realize some nice extra hp for the price

If you're running stock, it's a waste. ECU tuning, whether it is done by piggyback, stand-alone, or programmable ECU will benefit any car, but it's only noticable in a tuned car.

yea it does.

mine is great, it helped me to lean out my car which was running incredibly rich for some reason. and it does help. but in the end, it's YOUR car, you have to drive. so make the mods that you want.

For the price of the unit and the dyno time it takes to tune with it you could be making more horsepower with other parts. If you've got everything else done already and air/fuel and ignition tuning is the last thing you're able to do, I would suggest getting something better than a VAFC (Hondata S200, Uberdata, Motec, AEM EMS, etc.) so when you further upgrade (different motor, FI, etc.) you can continue to find more power.

Most people who get a VAFC never get their car tuned with it and just have it sitting on their dash so they can see it light up when they hit VTEC. And don't tell me it's not true, because compared to the one person who actually gains from it, multiple people get nothing but ricer points.

I agree, while there is performance to be gained from them, I have met people who don't even know how it works, here in Pcola, theres alot of rice, very few clean quick cars. I used to see it in ft. laud too
