So much logical thought going into defending throwing your car sideways into a turn and sliding sideways through it. Does anyone else find this as amusing as I do.
it just goes to show the intelligence of this group
what would you rather have: "Yo, drifting be mad tizzite to do with the homies!"

I really have no idea of exact setups used for "drift" only cars, but am familiar with what it would take to get a car with adjustable suspension to be loose. Race cars setup for the track *should* make for reasonably good drift cars since the perfect track setup is usually neutral or with a tad of oversteer. At least with the setup on the CRX that I drove on the track, it took very little to get it sideways. Most racecars are like that though and that's why there are a few unintentional drifts here and there whenever the driver's dip slightly over the limit.

For a drift only car I would just stick some street tires on the back with hoosiers up front. Don't even need to touch the suspension.

Good points Alex. Also .. I would add that the "drifting" done by Rally drivers is not classic drifting, aka power-on oversteer, but an artifact of driving on low grip surfaces. Rally cars also have the "fun stick".

Not sure about Rally car setup, but I would guess they are puting more torque to the front wheels anyways.

I am into open track stuff pretty heavy, but over the last couple of years with all the imported drift videos coming over it got me thinking. The place I work has 7 miles worth of roads that don't get used during the week. It is private property, usually we race on a predetermined layout for fun and to blow off steam. It is a perfect place to learn hoe to drift. I will never get all nutty into it, but after a long day a work it is really nice to go out and do some e-brake FWD drifts before the haul home.
