Default torque plate honing G.E. sleeved B18C (yes I did do a search)

After reading, some folks said there was no need to use a torque plate when doing the bore/hone on an open deck block.

I am sending my B18C to G.E. for sleeving, but I want to keep as much of the machine work as local as possible.

Can anyone confirm this?? I have a very good machine shop locally, but I wanted to make sure what I needed before I take anything to them. I know for sure they dont/wont have access to a torque plate for the cylinder finishing.

Thanks in advance!

have GE do it all. Im not saying your machinist isnt good im just saying at doing honda blocks GE will be better and already has all the correct tools and equipment for doing it...they do 100's of blocks a month

your not going to figure out anything the big boys haven't already tried...build it by the book and call it good.

I highly doubt the big boys have given away any of their valuable secrets.

There's a reason they are ahead of the game after all....

I say if you trust your machinist have fun doing something potentially much better than the rest. Get out of the cookie cutter style of doing things and experiment a bit. Be willing to lose it all though* it takes a lot of trial and error to get things right, but when you get it right you might just have the winning ticket!

I applaud anyone who thinks outside the box!
