honing with torque plate and sleeves
Is it critical to hone with a torque plate?Does GE use one when honing after sleeves? I can get sleeves installed locally by a reputable machine shop, but they have no torque plate for honda's.
I've wondered about this myself, as I have never heard anyone mention torque plates when talking about Honda machine work. This makes me tend to believe that no one uses/makes them. Maybe they aren't considered necessary or something. I wouldn't worry about it unless you are doing a full on race app and you need every bit of power you can get. If you talk to a machinist I'm sure you could custom make one.. I don't think it would be terribly hard.
I have never used one and have never had any problems.
Most of the machinists i talk to are on the fence on their effectiveness
although there are a few motors i know of that require torque plates but they
are not honda.

stock honda sleeves do not need to use a torque plate because of the open deck design .... you would need them on a closed deck design because the head bold torgue will actually distort the cylinders... as far as useing them for like and aftermarket closed deck sleeve... i do not know for sure so i dont want to make myself sound like an ***...
