Default running open header

i've got a b16 in my integra with bolt-on just wondering if it's worth running open header. Is there a noticeable difference in power verus an exhaust

Definitly loose power
If you had a built head and were spinning that thing to 8kplus then you would benifit from it

yeah you would lose power i had the same set up b16a1 in a red da straight header with bolt on's i was at mountain house all the time but anyways you need back pressure for b16a's not much torque especially in an integra.

quote I found..........

Some of the other considerations included holding the vacuum condition in the collector long enough to be used by the next cylinder to fire. This is achieved by, the length of the collector, which must be at least 25 inches long. If it were any shorter, after the pulse passed outside a high pressure wave would form and go back up into the system, negating the vacuum.

i have doubts it doesn't make HP running open header. I had to drive to the muffler shop when i first got the swap and let me tell you the thing felt quick! Once the cat, piping and muffler were all hooked up it felt choked.

When I go to the track soon I will make a pass running through the cat, etc... and one pass with open header and make a post about the difference.

I lost .2-.3 second on the juice running open header.

LOUD AS F**K!!!!!!!!

Car lost so much power NA and open header, I couldn't do my normal 2nd gear burnout.

ive been running open header for a while now, with a slightly built b16. i do have a straight pipe bolted on to the header, and this makes a world of difference vs. open header. The last few weeks though ive heard a strange gurgling noise coming out through the pipe. People around here are telling me its gonna get worse and worse till i get a muffler on there, and that my exhaust valves are gonna burn up? can anyone vouch for this?

</TD></TR></TABLE>so i is better to run a straight pipe about 30in long with no cat.

Don't worry about your valves, they'll be fine. As long as you don't run the car with the header off, or with a blown header gasket, then you'll be ok.
