How did a very reputable machine shop go down the drain? They were also feature in this month's Import Tuner magazine...Luckly i got my block done by RS before it went down the drain all thanks the help of Big John.
BIG JOHN: pm me and tell me cost on 2 blocks both GSR... are they open deck??? what name brand sleeves??? darton???? and yes we are a shop with business license if that matters...
looking foward to this!!!
and damn only 2 weeks turnaround....
the guys there have given me the best blocks i could ever wish for, i have abused them and used them throughout my career. sad to hear complaints but the guys there are all good guys. people do business in many different ways.
I agree with you. They have/had the best block sleeving. And as for Rich, Mike, John, etc. and even Bisi, what can I say, they are all very helpful and very supportive. And I'm speaking based on experience. Just ask the some of the big racers around. I just hope that whatever problem/trouble they're experiencing right now, they work it out. I wish them luck!
****!!! im sorry to hear about that. with that much money involved, i would get a plane ticket and make a visit over there and start breaking heads
good luck
good luck
sure all the big name racers get treated good , but sombody that isnt in the nhra points standings or mr joe shmo wants a block , they get the shaft , worst buisness practice ever , because most of us no namers who buy built blocks are tryin to make a name , and will continue to buy built blocks throughout ..... bottom line , dont screw the little guy because thats your future big namers.
Well, i wasnt going to post on this thread, but here it goes....
I have had nothing but good experiences dealing with RS.. I have made a few friends from RS along the way, including Big John.. (Sup bro.)..
For those who have been having problems with RS lately, I'm sorry to hear about the problems, i'm sure once things are finalized everything will be worked out..
just my .02
Mike...

for the last few hours ive been searching to find peoples threads about where to send there block to get sleeved.
after reading a **** load of threads i am scared to send my block to anyone. alot of people seem to have problems weather they dont get there money back or the sleeves start to drop or after reasembling the car just runs like ****.
is there any mechenist that has nothing but good feedback?

The shops that seem to have a "bad" rep, also do a huge volume of work.W/that many customers it's hard to make everybody happy, take it w/a grain of salt. The only shops I've never heard a bad word against are Z10 and Benson.

i agree 100%
i agree 100%
i have two good stories about both, my Z10 bars are not straight and can force wheel hop like Vegas last year, Benson block I had from Rev Hard last year Pomona lasted 2 passes and then the sleeves dropped. I just bring bad luck stories from a lot of people. but thats racing, not ever part is perfect.
The RS block I got back was total junk. #1 was .004" above the deck and #4 was even with the deck. I just talked to someone here (DOHCarp) and he told me he also had the same problem. I spoke to mike about it and he was just talked his *** off...blah blah.. The only good thing RS had going good for them was John, but he is now gone. He took care of me big time and he gets a
from me.
Cornbread Jr. also has a problem with them and Tony1 can vouch for this. When they put his motor together the sleeve had a pin hole that was leaking coolant.
After I complained to them when I got my block back they agreed to sleeve another block for free but I had to pay for the sleeves. No biggie but when I got it back it has a huge gap between #1 and #2.
Ive already given them 2 chances to make right. They must be using fisher price for there machines...

wouldn't doubt it, i can go on and on with even other companies, my blocks were just fine. the only problem i always have with my motor is that my motor doesn't like Eagle rods with small bolts. i lost two RS blocks with flying rods. haha, i still use small bolt eagle rods in my motor, im just stubborn or retarded.

Cookie, I have never heard of Benson blocks dropping sleeves ever. It is impossible because of the design. If you send me the block and it is a Benson, I will fix it FOR FREE. There is a life time warranty.

I was just looking over my Import Tuner Magazine and notice the number they have listed for RS Machine is the same number as R&D Dyno. It might just be a type-o but then again you never know.

The reason Benson has such a good name is he's been around since day one !! RS has been "around" how long ........ as a business I mean not just a name. The only reason RS held on sooo long is the business ethics and the help from JOHN. He kept them afloat as much as an employee could. If you notice with in two or so months of his departure the phones are not answered and the customers are out of luck. We were lucky we were told that John could be leaving so we forced the owner ( at the time ) to write us a refund check. Which we tried to cash for about a month until it cleared.
Dan @ Benson's =
1) he is in house every day of the week, so you can talk to him not someone who has no idea
2) has been in the game since the first day
3) not the cheapest but at least you get what you pay for
which doesn't always happen in our market
So I guess we have gone full circle with machine shops in our time = and we are back where we started .
