Hey.. I'm really new to the forum.. I'm sure this is a stupid question for most of you but I could use some advice. I have raced for a few years.. but most often on hand-me down slicks or whatever was laying around. I finally have built a car worthy of some good slicks and now I'm not really sure what to get.
I have a 93 Honda Del Sol. The car is lowered. Fully built GSR boosted. 28lbs high boost, 15lbs on low boost. The car made 553horse to the wheel and 446 torque on the dyno. I have ran the car only once ,last year just after finishing the motor setup on a set of shitty TSW's with a 22" slick. The car went 11.1 at 124mph. The car currently has the GSR tranny.. So no LSD. not much traction at all .. Thus the 11.1 was just alot of smoke and spinning.
So.. I'm currently planning to put LSD in the car and I'm wanting to finally buy a set of slicks for myself.. What wheels should I get and what size and type of slick. I don't want to spend a ton of money as I don't race the car very often.. But I also don't want to cheap out and limit the cars potential.. Some good advice would be very helpful. Please help.. I really don't know what to get and don't want to get ripped off.. Also.. What should I do for LSD.. Everyone is saying to put a Quaife diff in the GSR tranny.. I considered just putting a type r tranny in it.. but everyone says the GSR is geared good for the setup. What about putting a Type R diff in the GSR tranny..?? Is this a good or possible option.?? A little reluctant to spend the $1200-$1500 on the Quaife.. PLEASE, PLEASE help.. trying to get the car together for a event in August.
Thanks in advance..

x2 on the OBX, been using mine for a while now. Costs like $400 and is a quaife copy.

Tech forum has more info about it.

I had no luck with the obx. I would either get a quafe or just keep the stock diff. I went 10.4 on an open diff, and then added a spool which did not lower my 60' and just made turning around in the pits a bitch!

As for slicks, cant go wrong with a set of Mickey Thompson 24.5x9.0-13 on some 13" Lensos/Welds/Bogarts.

I have a similar problem with deciding on wheel & tire set-up.
Now I was going for 13x8s but now ive started to think about 15s, because I want decent brakes. Would it not be possible to achieve good 10sec times on some 15s?

Re: (Garage786)
A LSD does not help traction. If you can do a burn out with both wheels then your good. A good set of slicks and the proper launch will help the most.
