how exactly does the Nopi chic class work? i know its a heads up tree, but kinda like time indexed. Doesnt the officials take the average of the runs and make that the dial in? Thats another idea, but that kinda gets hard to follow at times.

You could slow the 600hp cars down and make them harder to drive by making a rule that makes 205s the biggest drag radial you could run </TD></TR></TABLE>

drag radial should have a 235/60/15 limit. but it would have to be a drag radial no bias ply.

this class would be awesome and it would not be about the most power. but who can drive and setup there suspension to get the car to hook.

plus you wont be murdering transmissions as much with a drag radial only class.
i really hope something like this goes down.

if the class turns out to be single power adder cars that have to be on a drag radial i am in

If this class becomes a reality I might actually try it out. The car I am building right now is being geared more toward the nhra street class with slicks but I'd be willing to put the dot tires on it and try it out.

A class for the common man is a damn good idea. Starting from scratch sux. I started from a bare block and pour blood, sweat and quadruple overtime to get to where I'm at now. I know I've spent 20k+ on just my motor without any sponsorship or freebies from anyone and I get tired of seeing people getting sponsored out of the blue.

what this class is perfect for is the average turbo/allmotor/nitrous/supercharged guys who drive there cars daily and can't afford to make it a dedicated race car. Its a class for the racer/driver, not nessacarily the spectator. Last year when we talked about a class like this the sanctioning bodies didn't wanna do it because they said, "who is gonna want to watch a bunch of 12sec cars race each other." Well now they are trying to get more racers involved in racing rather then getting spectators and I think thats whats more important. A class like this will encourage grudge matches between local racers and a chance for some really close head to head racing.(even if it is 12 sec cars it will still be fun to watch) I think the rules should be kept to a minimum in this class. it should closely ressemble the cars you would see on a friday night at ur local street races(minus the 14sec accords ) As the Turbo4 class continue's to grow into a really fast class w/ points and awards, this class could take over as the entry level class that turbo4 used to be.

I've got the perfect class... Red, 98 Honda Civic Si Coupes, Stock rear wheels (must run factory hubcaps), only allowed to take out the carpet and one seat, Stock hood with hood pins (must use Pepboys brand), minimum of 2" Dia. exhaust tip, a maximum of two engine upgrades, and a minimum of three billet accesories. Yeah, that is it. Cuz I got the fastest one of those..

why not make everyone run the same tire to keep it from getting out of hand.something not to big like 225-50-15 g-force.also,i think it should be fwd only.awd and rwd would dominate otherwise

dot approved and just like a slick...... something would have to be done to prevent these.

Took me 1 second to find this so they will be used if the only requirement is dot approved. I know i would buy them if they were legal.

well he posted a tire size limit in the other thread but it wasn't too clear.. Just says 235/60.. Depending on the rim size that could be pretty tall.

Yes, taht is as big as anyone can go. You can run smaller, narrow, or any combo that Your car needs. As far as the guy who posted about the Mickey ET Street. According to Mickey Thompson, the Radial version is not available yet. So yes that tire is DOT approved, but it is a bias ply tire.

Im confused on the tire size limit? a 235/60/15 has the dimensions of 26" tall and 9.2" wide. while a 235/60/14 is just 25" tall and 9.2" wide and a 235/60/16 is huge @ 27" tall and 9.2" wide. I think the tire size needs to be more specific then just a width and sidewall u know?

How can You do that when a guy has a big brake conversion and can't run smaller than a 16" wheel?

alot of classes in tracing have just a width limit.......not that there are really any performance tires out there that exceed a 60 profile (if any)

If you want a larger tire.....get a larger wheel; dealing with the weight of the larger wheel (and tire) is not likely worth it though

those tire are bias ply wrinkle walls.
mickey thompson also carries a drag RADIAL. its already relaesed and has similar performance to a BFG drag radial.

smallest rim size should be a 15 inch rim.

no im not saying limit the rim size or anything, just say the biggest you can go is 25" tall and 9.5" wide and as long as the tire is under that size then they can run whatever rim they want. Thats how NMRA does it and it works well for them. just an idea i guess.
