Need Launching Tips for b16a
ok, got a '92 hatch with a jdm b16a1 motor. just has aem cai, apex'i n1 catback, no cat, and a b&m fpr. last time i went to the track, i was hittin 15.1's and 15.2's at 91-92 mph. i know this is a 14 second trap speed but no matter what i do, i can't get it below the 15's. what should my 1/4 mile time be and how can i get my times to match my et's? also, i usually only launch at about 2-2.5k. my 60 foot times are usually 2.3, and maybe a 2.2 every once in a while. suspension wise, i have skunk2 coils(teg spring rates) and tokico 5 way's. this is on some yokohama street tires as well. any info or help is appreciated. thanks.

I'd say launch a little higher about 3K. That mph is about right for those times though. What kind of suspension do you have? What are your 60ft. times like?
id say about 4k and ride the clutch a little.
my 2k Si used to hit those times and is much hevier than a hatch. my trap speed was about 88-89 with 2.1-2.2 60'.
at 2-2.5 i would say you are bogging. you have to spin a little just to keep your rpm's up and you should see some 14.6-14.8 passes with good driving.

i know i'm capable of 14's. i got a friend with a 00 si with the same parts and he was hitting the same times so just naturally, mine should be a lil faster, since it's obd1 and no cat?

I have the same problem trying to launch also, I have just about the same setup as you and my best was 15.1@93mph with a shitty 2.5 sixty foot. And I was launching right around where you were launching at about 3500rpm with bald azenis but that is besides that point. I'm not sure though because your sixty foot times really aren't that bad though.
put the gas on the floor, wait for the revlimiter... sidestep the clutch and hold on.
would you believe we pulled a 1.7 60 foot doing this with some slicks on a stock *** 00si.. that was fun
