Default MSD 2step module wiring ?

theres 3wires coming off the module. 1 plug that goes into the msd box,1 ground and 1 power wire . how i use to have it was, i grounded the ground wire and had the power wire to a switched 12volt button....my question is, can i wire the red wire to a constant 12+ and hook up the ground wire to a switch ground like a horn button or a e-brake?........ will the 2step work will a switch ground or it has to be a switch 12volt?

here is how we have ours - LineLoc on rear brakes - pushbutton switch on shift **** - it works slick - push clutch & brake pedals in & hit button on shift **** - locks rear brakes to keep it from rolling - bring engine up on rev limiter - release clutch and it releases the brakes and shuts off launch rev limit

here is shift **** we used:

just called MSD and talked to one of the tech's and he said "you have to use a 12+ power to active it. you can't use a ground, cus when you kill the ground you'll brun the msd unit out". i thought the ground would work just like a power, but i guess not. I'll just stick with his advise and use a power to activate it.
