Default Limiting Straps

Has anyone had any experience with straps used to limit the upward travel of your front suspension?

Is this a newb solution to cheap suspension?
Is it widely used?
Can you buy these? or do you have to make them?

Let me know guys!

my geography is not the best but are there 1/4 mile tracks anywhere near thunder bay? I hope you're not planning on doing this for the street.

For starters, use the search feature and search the drag racing threads for "limit straps".

I was really set on making a set but was able to pull off a 1.612 60ft without them.

what's your current setup?

It was a big Myth, they do not work!!!! we had some of the worst 60fts when we installed a set....as soon as we removed them last season the car went from 1.7 to 1.6 60fts...
What the car was actually doing is,when the car would take off,the front of the car lifts and pulls the a frames up with it causing a hopping affect.

I still have 2 sets wanna buy one..

When I did a search nothing came up, not even on the entire forum.

No, I would never run strap on the street that would be a sure fire way to crash into something lol!

Yeah there are a few 1/4 mile tracks around Thunder Bay.

Terrace Bay, ON has one

and Thunder Bay is only 45mins from the Minesota border so Brainerd int'l raceway and Rock Falls are pretty close too!

We have been trying to build a track in town for years but nobody seems to want the noise near their house >.< ... jerks lol!

Keep the opinions coming guys

i ran limiting straps for about 18months,best time on them was 10.53@139mph,with a best 60ft being 1.76.

took them off to see what would happen and ran a 1.71,then 1.68,1.61 then a 1.58 with a best time of 9.93@147mph

I guess you don't know who just give you the answer your looking for.

Aggressive Racing

Felix knows what he talking about, he kind of has a few fast times and a number of wins to prove it.

Here I love this video. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/2135789

You have to let the shocks do the work. The better the shock the better they work.

Thnx man! that's sort of what I thought!

I'm just strting my first major build this winter and i dont want to invest in stuff that will just make me slower!

I ran my ride for the first time ever at the track this summer.
All i'm running right now is a 95 HB with a jdm GS-R swap /w cold air, header, test pipe, full cat back, full ignition (msd 6al, distributor, blasterss coil, wires), light flywheel and upgraded clutch, urethane mounts, stock suspension, B&M short shift.

I ran on 22" x 8" x 13" M/T slicks on rims that were too narrow.

That was my best time slip of the weekend (414),

Pretty sad, but it's all about seat time right

This winter my suspension is getting built and I'll move into the block in the spring but I work too much to do it all at once so it will be a WIP for a while!

would like to break into low 13's high 12's next year if i can.

Thnx for the info guys! I'm a like a dry sponge right now!!

Technically no.

But the stuff does work...

When Ryan was looking for a suspension set up he made some calls to the big company's. Progress was the one's who had the best customer service. They would listen to Ryan and teach him what he needed to know.

Yeah, my reaction times were going down every run but I was a little overwhealmed by the whole event! Adjusting what I could and trying different ways to launch to try and get my 60ft's down.

I tell ya tho .5 was a huge improvement over the 1.x I started the day with

That slip is from the 7th run that I have ever done

I can't wait to go out again next year, and hopefully to more events... It's too bad there are only about 5 tracks in my area

Be sure when you search the forums that you check the archived forums. I found 7 threads with "limiting straps" in the title.

As someone pointed out in an older thread, they do work and work effectively but... only if the suspension is reconfigured to get the most advantage out of them. If they are not configured correctly, they'll likely pull up on the control arms too much as was posted above.

If you are going by what people said in the archives that was before people actually went out and tried them...I can guaranty 95% of them dont even have them on there cars no more..
Back in the day people used to use chains to stop the travel until they came out with the Wheelie bars.
