i have a gold 90 hatch with a 94 jdm sohc vtec,im on a low budget and i want some tips in how i can get more power without the big cash,i raced my man a couple days ago,he has a 90 hatch in red with a b18b1,hydro tranny,and obd1,and i lost by like a car and a half,so thats where im at,but i want some more power so i can set up the rematch,any tips would help,even those that dont require money.just any ideas....

i've never really thought of getting nitrous before,i've heard bad things and i know people that have broke their cars alot because of nitrous,i have a daily driver and i cant afford to be walking now.... how does it feel though?

 

save up for a motor swap

 

Power is expensive. If you want to go faster, make it lighter. Gut it for free and drop a couple hundred pounds.

put nitrous on there. a 50 shot is pretty freakin safe. you could get higher compression pistons pretty cheap.

I sprayed my d16z6 with 20 bottles of nitrous on a 75 shot, and 10 or so on a 100 shot. That motor died idling in my friends driveway after I changed my oil to 0W20 in the summer time. But hey, its a $200 motor to replace. I didn't care until I moved out on my own and couldn't blow money anymore. LOL!

 

depends on how fast you want to go.
Your sohc vtec can put up decent numbers like 140-150whp or so with good cam and mild headwork with bolt ons.

anything beyond 150whp in any sohc your going to have a lumpy idle.


stock gsr already dyno at like 155-160 tough....
so you have some thinking to do.
