So this is prob why you see al lot of the real cars; IE: pro mods, top fuel, funny car etc, all shut down once the trap and use chute and brakes....

Yeah i can imagine it does. Ive taken my car to 181mph and i couldnt imagine having to stop it quick.
But yeah i know its a big difference from 140 to mid to upper 170s low 180's. Gotta be pretty intense.
Ill be happy just to get to 150's for now. The new power and upgrades should get me there and after my last testing out with 650whp ive got a good idea of how to go out and perform well without wasting passes.
Your guys' cars are insane, lol. Keep up the good work. To the OP cant wait to see your car back out there man. You have pushed through a lot of mishaps and stuff most people would just give up on. I love the determination. Same way I am. If its not one thing its another. Although ive yet to throw a built motors rod out the block but your at twice the power. Im shooting for 800whp and will be using the Manley TT rods as well. I just dont fully trust the eagle h beam rods to that high. They did fine at 650whp but dont want to push the limits.
Keep it up man and eventually the work and dedication will pay off. Good luck.

With a Rob Moore front disc brake setup I can't waste any time above 130 and get stopped in time in a half mile.. I need to pull the chute to keep from replacing the pads each pass. lol

lol, im still running my stock sentra se-r brakes. lol. Any decent pedal effort above 120mph will fade the brakes pretty quick but again usually i can stop by the 3/8 mile first turnoff point occasionally i just wont be hard on the brakes and go to the second turnoff. I really didnt like hitting the brakes hard because with my coilovers all the way up, 25X8.7 slicks they stick out of my fenders a good 1 1/2 inches and only have about 1 1/2 clearance to the fender as well and too hard of braking would put my tire into the fender so id usually just take it easy.
Once this 3 piece drag front gets made i wont have to worry about that will probably just put more braking effort in. But yeah nose diving into the slick and popping it always scared me so id usually just casually brake.

My 2008 Dodge Ram 6 wheel tow rig has an engine brake- does that mean i need some GRP's for that?
J/K very nice write up Howard.
I am also one to back pedal & engine brake on a fresh motor & the outcome wasn't pretty, split the block in half. Its been a rough 2011 - 1st pass of the year I about put the car on its roof. ever since then its been a mental game for me.

glad i asked...when you drive cars with crappy brakes u develop a bad habit of using ur engine to break...i imagine its ok at 5-7k rpm but once u get into the 9-10k at 160+mph thats when **** breaks...i can say i learn something today...
i hear people using oem brakes on their drag cars...i think its crazy to cheap out on the most important thing...use hawk hp+ pads...i know i will never go back to stock and mines is just a street car..
