Default ls-vtec build

ok so i am new at building motors, but my friend recently gave me a b18a1 block. So i figured the y7 is getting old, and i want to build an all motor build.
Im gonna start with building the block first, then get a b16 head.

so far the list of things i want to get is:

.golden eagle ls vtec conversion kit, 81mm gasket.
.b16b pistons
.golden eagle rods with arp rod bolts
.b16 head
.skunk 2 intake

some suggestion on other things would be nice.

yah i was thinking about some blox stage 2 camshafts.

my main focus right now though is to rebuild the block i just had it cleaned today. Im thinking if i should buy a new crankshaft or not, because when the motor ran it spun a rod bearing i believe, and im not sure if that would of hurt it or not, cause from what i heard ls camshafts are pretty decent crankshafts, and it might be nice if its salvageable.

If you're not planning on boring the block 1mm oversize then I strongly recommend not getting an 82mm head gasket, but one that matches the bore.

i was reading they are .25mm oversized, would that mean i have to bore out my block?

I wouldn't recommend the PCT pistons either, they'll knock your compression up quite a bit, and you might have piston to valve clearance issues.

Get a set of PR3 or P30 pistons.

PR3's with a 3 layer headgasket and a B16 head = 11.3:1ish compression

P30's with a 3 layer headgasket and a B16 head = 11.5:1ish compression

I am using PR3's myself and I run 94 octane gas to avoid detonation.
