Default high output Alternator users

I had issues a while back with my voltage dropping, i put in an alterstart 135 amp alternator and the problems went away. well they came back in recent months and finally checked the alt and it was pretty much locked down with little movement.

Who uses alterstart here revving to 10k....experiences.

Id like to get mine repaired if possible. Just don't want it to **** out on me lol. Alternators usually last a long time.

I had same issues with my car and i bought a power bastards alternator but making brackets to make it fit was recipe for belt munching.........

So i bought a brand new oem (Denso)Honda one and issues were gone according to my data logs.

Just my .02

anyone know the amperage of the del sol VTEC 95 vs the 99 civic si?

a HONDA re-manufactured alt is 150 for the 99 si for me.

a HONDA brand new alt is 237 for me for the 95 del sol vtAk.

If i get the 99 alt ill have to pay about 45 shipped for a short adapter harness to put the obd2 alt with my obd1 plugged jkobd harness.

Have you actually tried slowing down the alternator so that it spins a safe number of RPM? It wouldn't take much larger of a pulley to slow it down 20 percent.

sorry to thread-jack...

Im interested to know of any GOOD high-output alternators... My battery discharges slowly at idle because of the underdrive.

The bad part about slowin the alt down means it slows down at idle. I work at a starter and alt shop. A stock honda alt shouldnt have any problems at all turning the rpm's u r.

O and the stock alt's are way under rated. I they say 120 amp they will do 150ish if needed.

I run a re done alternator only uses the thick power wire. Works good 13.5 at idle to-11k. i agree with barone over drive is an issue at high rpm put a race fluid damper on the car and it should fix it. Or just put a 16v system and ditch the alt all together

i have the ati street damper so its not smaller for the alt drive so i would have to under drive it. I never had problems at idle with voltage when i did have an under drive pulley on the alt.
