Default Harmonic Dampner

Anyone use one of these yet?
http://performanceparts.com/part.php?partID=269007
http://www.jcwhitney.com/powerforce+...49&TID=SP00001
I can get them for less then $170 shipped instead of spending $300 plus on an ATI and its SFI approved.

A balanced OEM one seems to work just fine.

That's all fine and dandy but I have a reason for needing an aftermarket single belt pulley and I have this urge to replace the n1 pulley Ive been running.

They do work fine. but technically if you're running too quick and too fast, by nhra rules(11.49 I believe) you're supposed to have one on the motor.

I just don't see the point in running something that costs $300+ when i can get an SFI approved one for $170 on a motor that constantly gets serviced. Unless someone here has ran these professional products harmonic dampeners and had one explode at 9,500+ rpm? at the end of run i pull the motor out to just past 10k in 4th to finish and the last thing i want is a crank pulley coming at me or someone else.

Spend the money on an ATI or Fluidampr. The Professional Products "dampner" doesn't even have timing marks on them.

I used on a LS/VTEC which threw a rod through the front of the block due to bearing failure. Both the rod and main/thrust bearings on the motor were toast. A friend of mine also used a Professional Products dampner and lost his motor as well, same way. Not saying that it was the dampner, but it was a common part on our motors. My motor was turbocharged, he was on the bottle. I've been using an OEM one for the past 1.5 years with no issues, but I'm only making around 600whp.

I've used PP dampers in past and have seen the allen screws back out, strip, and become a hassle, the multi belt damper, Ive seen it separate. Poor construction. I've ran Fluidampr for several years now and have never looked back. Yes there around 350ish, but well worth it, considering most of our engines are expensive.
