Default Haltech EMS...need info...

Well...i was wondering what people thought about the haltech E6X system...i found a company online (tweakit.net) that was selling the system at resonable price...i need fellow HT members that has use it give input and thoughts about this system and is this system hard to tune? Also if this not a good system please explain why and i need a recommendation of another EMS. I am planning to use the EMS system for a drag car. Thanks.

all I can simply say is don't do it! we ran it for 2 years and hated all 730 days of it! The tuning is difficult compared to today's current EMS programs and you can pick up an AEM or FAST for a really reasonable price, so once again don't do it!

AEM vs FAST.. which one is cheapest, easiest to tune, most reliable, has most useful features for an allmotor racecar?

You can get a Motec M4 for just a little more than the FAST, and it's WAYYY more computer!

i downloaded the M4 program and can't really understand how to adjust the setting. Of course i don't mind spending the money for a Honda Equip M4. Is it hard to self tune. I looked at speed pro, Haltech and i under stood how to adjust the fuel in injector ms and the map. onething of the motec i can;t afford is the wideband meter that motec offers.

which wideband are you reffering to? the one for the advanced datalogging and tunning? or the motec plm wideband? the plm is a standalone meter. the wideband option is around alittle over half the price of the plm.-pdang

I have the E6x and like it for what I needed it works great. Problems with it are Datalogging isnt the greatest, software sux. I have no problem tuning w/it follow the instructions and calculations they give you and you should be able to tune it fine, it does take a little longer than other programs though.

What about Accel anyone using this?

has any one used the sakura system?? i had herd things about it from some people talking about it at the track. never herd of it mentioned at a forum or on the internet or anything. one cool feature i herd about it is you can use certain keys on the keyboard to test the injectors. i.e. hit the key injector fires. and i cant exactley remember all the other things that they were talking about.

I have the Motec M4 in my civic and AEM in the integra. The AEM seems more user friendly with its windows interface and help. The AEM comes with many of the features that you have to pay extra for on the motec. The motec came with its own engine harness that was plug and play. As far as I know they are both great, have been for me so far.

The motec has diagnostics, where you can fire each injector, coil, and all outputs individually to test. You can also run individual coils on an M4 with just an ignition expander. It uses one output on the m4 and multiplexes it to the 4 coils. Then you can buy a sync/ref sensor and get rid of the distributor all together!

I would just save up the money and go with the Motec M4. We ran Haltech, then AEM, and I am pretty sure now that I have Motec, I will not change for quite awhile, thanks to Tony1 and Norad!!

How you like the AEM EMS, mike? I was looking at mocrotech...it's a pretty simple system...almost like autronics. I swear all these companies in austrilia seems to be coping each others ideas. Autotronic's wiring looks similar to microtech looks vis-versa. And i don't get how come most of the EMS systems comes from the aussies.

MicroTech is a very good system and user freindly, plus it is very affordable! We have a person running a MicroTech LT8 on a All Motor car. and of course we use it on our car, the MT even uses the stock sensors. There is lots of people who have switched from Haltech over to Microtech including us. and it has made a big diffrence as soon as it is pluged in.
Check out the All Motor H car @ http://www.thunderalley.com/sp

it was ok, we just kept having boxes fail on us, we would replace them and another would go bad, so we just trashed the whole thing and went with Motec

on the Haltech the datalogging was slow the samples/sec were far less than today's newer management systems

Datalogging on the MicroTech is pretty good, It can hold up to 11 min of logging. at 100 samples per second. You can tell it when to start logging and when to stop. It will display the log in a graph, text or by a gauge display on the screen. and just like most units you can print and save the log.

Oh and the 11 min's is not the total of logs, it is per log. so if all you doing is 1/4 mile racing it is just fine.

I have haltech on my race car and street car and no probs, this thing has been around for a long time. However if you have a tuner I would try the MOtec, its simply the best there is. My cousin owns the Champion Motors Gt class Audi R6's and thats what they run..the motec.

Did you look at the Haltech E11 yet. It's full feature, windows based and has about
15 extra outputs. I tryed one about a year ago and if it had worked would have been awsome. Turned out it was from the first batch and was full of bugs. If they
got there act togehter on it it might be a inexpensive way to go??

I wound up with a Autronic SM2, VERY nice unit
