I have alot to say about this thread;

SA has always suffered when big events came around.....its too domesticy around here.....the racers seem to love it, but it does not make business sense to the sanctioning bodies.........my wife and I skipped IDRC to go to NOPI and that turned out to be a HUGE step in the right direction

All the sanctioning bodies need to sit down at SEMA and iron out the schedule for next year so there is not 2 events in TX on the same weekend and none of the criss-cross stuff that went on a couple of months ago with NHRA and NOPI......thats a pipe dream though

We attended the IDRC event in CO last month and I would have to say I was absolutely amazed by the turnout of the street cars and spectators, the pro classes left much to be desired and the weather made for a rough trip. I highly recommended to the owner of NOPI to come there next year as soon as I got home.........I think they would do great there as well, its just a matter of if the pros will follow

Thats good to here, cause I'm sick of hearing trash talkers about IDRC, can you make a statement about your pay outs? Cause I know they pay out but whats the deal?

I was planning on going to AZ, but did Chris tell you how my car was doing?

We'll be at all the NDRA events and any other ones we have time for.

I hope at least one circuit comes back to TX next year.......we just cant put up the crowds during the summer heat

Yeah I have always gotten my money from IDRC. Plus it is racing. Racing **** happens. Any racer should know that cause when you race you already lose money.

We have had a rough year with our series sponsor pulling out but that is almost over and look forward to 2004. We have either paid off or almost paid off all the championship winners. Sav has been paid. Fortunitely we have the magazine that has helped pay off the winners and keep the drag racing series going. We just want to get through this year and start off 2004 clean and put the past behind us.

I only singled him out because I see most people are using him as an example of the Champs who have not been paid. Where I know for a fact he now has been paid in full.

Ok I was hoping this topic wouldn't resurface but it has, I just want to say that wether I have or have not been paid is something that I have to deal with on a personal level. I don't feel that it is fair to the IDRC that these topics are put out for everyone to gang up on. I think that the racer attendance and spectator turnout has shown that bad buisness decisions were made and they are paying the price. I currently am in second place in points for the quick class, going to Arizona I would have been battling Andrew Tran for 1st, I decided to stay and run NHRA you can draw your own conclusions as to my situation.

Has Erick Aguilar been paid the $$$ owed him yet? That's a five figure check + a lot of interest.

Who cares about other peoples money. If you're the 3rd party in the situation, it's not yours to worry about, it's between the IDRC, and the people they owe money to.

It's good to hear that our only import sanctioning body is here to say in Denver for the 2004 season. The locals keep getting quicker & faster. Sam Park of Importsports has hit a 9.20 so far this past year, and will be looking to be 1st or 2nd (Don't know if JJ Olsen has) to hit the 8's at our elevation in the Quick class.

We'd really like to see a better pro and outlaw turnout. The money is there for the taking, yet teams don't want the challenge of tuning at altitude. Looks like we'll have to leave it to the local boys: Importsports, Speed Image, PFI, and Paragon Tuning with their cars.

All-motor guys have still yet to find a major sponcer to pay for the class here, which is another disappointment. We do have a couple un-sponcered cars running 12's here.

2004 should be a wild ride.

I care - if those people are people I know, especially if they are friends or customers. If they don't get paid, they don't build new engines, they don't buy parts, they don't dyno tune - then I don't get paid.

Not to mention that if an organization does things bass-ackwards and doesn't live up to its responsibilities, I sure as hell want to know. I sat through rules meetings and various discussions with the IDRC last year along with 4 of my clients who all ran all-motor - I have a vested interest.

I agree with you to an extent, and I cant say Ive heard anything about event day payouts that was negative, just the championships...........but to those 20-30 people competitng for those dollars, it is a crucial bit of info and I think they have a right to know and that the sanctioning bodies should be held accountable

The IDRC is a joke, I drove from cali to AZ for last weeks race. I see bigger turnouts on a friday night test and tune. It look as if no effort was made at all to advertise or promote the event.

I was very dissapointed. Not only were there no racers, there were no fans either!
THe track officials could care less about the racers. The event was very poorly run and understaffed. And what the hell was up at the start line? It seemed like it was the track employees first day. sheesh, I thought our track at home was a cluster F*&@.

Friday the car was slower but I had a good time, the track people were friendly and all the other racers were impressed with my POS.

Sunday was like awhole different track though. Car was faster, and more consistant but it was a total cluster trying to get anything done.
