Default Finding gear ratios

Hi guys can somebody explain a simple way to find out what my best gear ratio is for drag racing 1/4 mile
Or link me to a post please
Say I have 600hp it's 4wd 6 speed box and 17inch wheels how do I figure out what ratios give best acceleration over 1/4 mile

Thanks

You will need overall tire height and final drive ratio used with your max rpm per gear to figure out what your tops speed is in each gear. Plot that for each gear. Then look at your dyno graph at the power curve and see where you want your car to stay between while shifting. You want to try and keep the engine in the area where there is the most area under your power curve. That would be the best way to hypothetically apply power. But I am guessing you may be working with a limited number of gear ratios available in the 4WD transmission.

Thanks for taking the time to replay
if the final drive is adjustable then how will i know i have a good final drive ready to tune individual gears Is there a standard number for drag racing to set final drive at

Also could you maybe show me an example of the calculations you do to find the top speed in every gear

Is the power curve the section after the hp crosses the torque line

Sorry for the amatuer questions

Choose a ratio that puts your rev limit at the top of 4th gear as you go through the traps. For example, a GSR that made 600hp revving to 9k would work great with a gsr tranny. 9k/1.034 4th/4.4FD x 6.41(24.5") x 60/5280 = 145mph. Perfect
