Finally its official - BFG Tires sponsors NHRA Street Stock with huge bonus payouts
BFGOODRICH TIRES RENEWS SPONSORSHIP OF STREET STOCK CLASS
GLENDORA, Calif. (May 11, 2006) – NHRA has announced that BFGoodrich Tires will renew their title sponsorship of the Street Stock Class by increasing the lucrative BFGoodrich Tires Street Stock Bounty awards and add a BFGoodrich Tires Qualifier Award for the popular Street Stock Class.
The comprehensive bonus packages mean that the participants in the BFGoodrich Tires Street Stock Class are not only racing for Wallys, but huge cash incentives. The drivers who run on BFGoodrich Tires and display the official class decals are eligible for more than $9,000 in awards.
A $5,000 BFGoodrich Tires Street Stock Bounty award will be given out to the driver that holds the BFGoodrich Tires Street Stock class national time and mph record after the final event of the 2006 NHRA Xplōd Sport Compact Series. The $5,000 award will be split if different drivers hold the time and speed records.
“NHRA is pleased to extend our partnership with BFGoodrich Tires,” said Josh Peterson, general manager of the Xplōd Sport Compact Racing Series. “The drivers of the Street Stock Class will have a lot of additional incentive beyond the Wally trophy when racing down the strip with the awards BFGoodrich Tires is offering.”
Loan Nguyen, of Burke, Va., collected the 2005 BFGoodrich Tires Street Stock Bounty for the national time and speed records set at the season-ending event at Pomona, Calif. She ran a record-setting time of 12.18 seconds and top speed of 114.77 mph in her Honda Civic. This enabled her to collect the $2,500 for each record and take home $5,000 at the NHRA Xplōd Series Champions Award Ceremony.
“We are pleased to renew and expand our commitment to the sport of drag racing and to recognize the achievements that are made throughout the year,” said Todd Steen, Motorsports Manager for BFGoodrich Tires. “The NHRA Sport Compact Series has proven to be an excellent proving ground for our street-legal tires. In fact, there is a bit of competition in every BFGoodrich tire.”
In addition to the year-end Bounty, BFGoodrich Tires will pay out $200 each to those drivers who run low time and high mph at each event. To be eligible for the BFGoodrich Tires NHRA Street Stock Bounty each driver must be competing on BFGoodrich drive tires, run the class decals on each side of the car and run the BFGoodrich Street Stock windshield decal.
The BFGoodrich Tires Qualifier Award is for the top eight qualifiers at each event. The top eight qualifiers at the nine stand-alone NHRA Xplōd Sport Compact Series events will receive a cash award of $50. To be eligible each driver must be competing on BFGoodrich drive tires and run the NHRA Xplod Series decals on both sides of the car.
In addition to BFGoodrich Tires support of the Street Stock class and its substantial bounty system, BFGoodrich Tires will continue its popular Race Our Rubber program. Competitors with a valid driver’s license, credit card, and signed waiver can swap out competitor tires for a set of BFGoodrich g-Force T/A Drag Radial tires for a race weekend. In 2006, the Subaru SPT-ESX Racing Team will administer the BFGoodrich Tires Race Our Rubber program from their pit at each NHRA Xplod Sport Compact Racing Series event.
Success on the street begins with winning on the track and BFGoodrich Tires is involved in every type of racing, including oval, sports car, drag, desert, rally (Paris-Dakar and WRC) and extreme rock-crawling. With 20 consecutive Baja 1000 wins, the most wins in rock-crawling history, and an unmatched record on pavement, BFGoodrich Tires has proven the only records it breaks are its own.
