Summer tires in winter?
I'm ordering my car today and am having second thoughts about ordering the summer tires, seeing as how summer is over.
I live in Oregon. It snows probably an average of 2 days a year with another 3 days of ice or so. And I don't necessarily plan on driving in that anyways. It does rain quite frequently though.
Are the summer tires still a good option at this point? Do they work the same or better than the stock tires in the rain? Anyone have an estimate on how long they last (mileage-wise) compared to the stock tires?
I have to order today, so I'm looking for all the information I can get, and fast.
Thanks in advance, all!

Re: Summer tires in winter? (R18A1FG)
if it only snows two days out of the year i wouldnt worry about getting snow tires... "summer" tires will do fine in rainy/somewhat icey conditions but i wouldnt reccomend them if you live at the north pole or some ****

Re: Summer tires in winter? (TRE_)
ended up going for the stock tires. I figure I can use those as my "winter" tires and put the extra $200 towards a set of performance tires later on. Hope I made a decent choice.

Re: Summer tires in winter? (Type X)
the DX comes w/15" wheels...
now that obviously fits all non-si
don't know about the SI though
and dont know why you would want such small rims on an FG

if u get summer tires on teh 17s get 16s with narrow(205/55) winter tires. i ordered up some rota slippies for the R, if they fit the SI ill order up the tires for winter, when spring comes throw on a fresh set or R comps for the R for summer.

I went with the all-seasons. I'll call them my "winter tires" until it dries up again, then I'll decide if I want to put the $200 I saved toward some proxes or something
