If your talking to the guy Ben above, he is a tuner and as far as myself or many others are concerned...one of the best out there. Check out his website and you'll learn about his book his is actually publishing just one the art of tuning. http://www.dynospeed.com/news/book.htm

I think he was talking to the original guy who started the post.

However, if you were talking to me, then yeah...I do know a little bit about tuning.

autronic or motec cant hold a stick to bosch. but they will set you back over $20K. For every system that bosch build they fly a representative out to talk to you about what you want and need. They then build each ecu specifically for you. but they are pretty much overkill for everything except F1 and LeMan cars. Id go with a Motec M800, ADL and a couple linear pots, accelerometers, and other data sensors.

Yeah, I happen to be a Bosch application engineer........I'm one of those guys that flys to you and tells you what you will need. I specialize in the MS3.1 and MS3.3 ecus and applications.........In fact if you check into it, you'll find I'm the only non-Bosch employed authorized rep in the USA for the MS3 series ecus.

Even after all that, I still think the Autronic is the most capable ecu on the market......why do you think I sell so many?

Its always funny how every message board I'm on, someone trys to whip out their secret knowledge of high end ecu's! Come on man...........didn't you read my screen name? EFI is what I do!

Okay, okay..so I'm also an arrogant *****......what can I say?

{I mean this light heartedly...in a joking sense, so don't get all offended, ok?}

awww man, I could use another sale! The MS 2.9 is about 18 grand, without the software, data cable, sensors or actuators, installation, or tuning!
Come on, Pete.......you can swing that right? lol

EFIGUY, What are the advantages of a autronic system over the motec m800?
edit: The application is not drag racing but road racing(formula SAE).

From a quality standpoint, they are pretty equal, and they have about the same features, but there may be a few more data logging channels on the M800 for things like suspension etc, but I haven't verified this.

You will find however that the Autronic costs far less and is much easier to set-up and tune because of the wonderful software the autronic has.......I feel it is much more user friendly.

Hondata works with the OBD 0 PR3 or PWO (JDM B16A ECU).

OBD I is better as there are more software options

No ****, I use it on my street car at the local hangouts in the parking lot. 2 step will always draw a crowd!!! I'm just a street warrior right now, I cant help myself!! anyway, I love my speedpro so far. Its a definite step up from Hondata. I get almost 25-30mpg at cruising with 1600cc injectors. The wideband seems to work well too.

If you guys want to hear how smooth the 2-step is on Mike's car check out this video. You can hear the other guys, ricky de la cruz I think, and you can hear him come on it. I was so impressed with the 2-step and that was the 1st thing I noticed when he staged. All weekend at the races when we won I kept telling ben, "its all in the 2-step."

id go w/the aem. they are constantly adding new features to the software. in the last update they added automapping and they are promicing traction control in the next version of the software. they also said something about gear dependent boost control.

the aem has a built in 2 step that you can make as hard or soft as you want. it also has a launch retard feature to spool the turbo quicker. i know alot of the supra guys over on the aem board have switched from motec to the ems.

but you will need to convert to obd1.. obd1 has a higher resolution crank trigger that will make for more accurate tuning. converting is easy, all you have to do is get a jumper harness for the ecu and wire in a obd1 distributor.

for the $$ the aem ems cant be beat

The only difference is that all the features the EMS guy are promising have already been in use by Autronics for years and they all actually work.

Not one user has had to complain and return their units for repair or replacement with an Autronic or Motec....... can't say that with AEM.

I'm sure that one day it'll be a good system, but right now its not at the level of Motec or Autronic.

Yea, a proven product doesn't randomly break...

Word round the campfire was Papadakis had to switch back to Motec last season because the EMS was the suck....

The SMC is 1,599.00

Some folks like to add a couple options like the reluctor adapter which allows you to wire directly to the stock triggers {$80} and the Autronic boost control solenoid which is $135.00
