Re: Engine Break-in/Oil Used?
I've done the last 5 motors with quaker state cheap conventional 10w30, 5 quart jug for $12 at Wal-Mart. Rings sealed up great, started it, warmed it up, drove around the neighborhood to get the AFR's decently okay. come back, change oil and filter with the engine WARM still. Then drove around and did full tunes with trips to redline and motor decelling. Works perfect everytime. Once the motor is tuned, and rolled a few hundred miles i'll change the oil to full synthetic and changed the plugs!

Stock B18B1 block/bottom end, 200k~ miles. Complete built head Brian Crower dual valve springs and valves. Stock cams as of now. What break in oil you guys think? Maybe Driven-synthetic? Or do you think just run regular Castrol GTX 5w-30?

Use plenty of assembly lube on the new parts in the head and fill the engine with whatever oil you normally use. Crank it with the ecu fuse out for 15-20 seconds to get oil in the head before you start it. Then just fire it up and drive it. Change the oil after 500 miles, mostly to check for shavings and peace of mind.
The rings and bearings have 200,000 miles on them. There's nothing to break in.
