Also, glad to see them approve this. I have pushed for it since last season. I did testing and it did make more power.

By testing the fuel. All you need is a graduated cylinder and some water to test for ethanol percentage.

"A simple test a technician might use is to determine the amount of alcohol
present in gasoline. This can be done using a "water extraction method". A
graduated glass cylinder, usually 100 milliliters (ml), is used for the test. Place
100 ml of the gasoline sample in the graduated cylinder. Add 10 ml of water
into the cylinder, stopper the top, and shake thoroughly for one minute. Set
aside for two minutes. If no alcohol is present, the 10 ml of water will settle to
the bottom of the cylinder. If alcohol is present the alcohol will drop to the
bottom, along with the water, increasing the bottom layer to greater than 10ml.
Subtract 10 from total bottom layer and remainder will be the percentage of
alcohol in the gasoline. "

Easy way to test if the E85 at the pump is straight E85 or the 'winter mix' 70% ethanol/30% gasoline.

I guess you can also use that to get huge batches of moonshine at the pump.

 

I know how they test it...but I just kind of doubted they would fuel-check every Sportsman car. We will see tho I guess...

Yeah, 650ish. That's what the 8 injector manifolds are for.

 

I figured they would have to allow this fuel since technically it's pump fuel....haha

I ran E85 and E100 (yes, you can get ahold of this when you live in a hillbilly state...lol) all last year. I love the fuel, inexpensive, not near as corrosive as meth, makes good power/torque, great detonation protection, little to no maintenance...and CHEAP!!!!!

Hondata will only control 4 injectors... Technically I could wire it up and have it control 8 using some FJO injector drivers. I was planning on staying on C16 next year, but E85 is looking interesting and easy to get my hands on.

 

Anything can control 8 injectors, just gotta get creative.

Exactly! Just gotta think outside the box....

 

I have ran (4) 1600cc injectors on straight ethanol and 30psi of boost with no issues. E85 will be even less demanding on the injectors. Just some of my experience with it. The injector D.C. is really high, but Lambda still remains steady.

How much boost do you think you can safely run on E85, I wouldn't think it would be near as high as C16. I personally haven't gone over 25psi on E85.

 

The furthest i've gone so far is 26psi and 620whp.

 

Where can you order E98 from? What company carries it?

 

Call Wyoming Ethanol, they are the largest supplier of ethanol in the racing industry. But being from the midwest, it's amazing where you can actually get it from. I didn't want to pay for shipping, so I just started doing some reasearch and found a place local to buy it from.

they sale it at some gas staion all over the us it's a clean buring fuel some new cars or tuned to run it from the factory, E85 that is!

Man,thats alot, its only $2.17 a gallon here. Meijer gas station sells it. Its typically about .10 a gallon cheaper than 87
